SSC CGL Exam Pattern 2020

As per the latest SSC CGL 2019 Notification, SSC CGL is conducted in four different stages: Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3 and Tier 4. The language of the question paper in both English and Hindi. Given below is the detailed SSC CGL Exam Pattern for All Tiers:

SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Pattern

• Tier 1 is conducted in online mode holding a weight of 200 marks. The duration of the exam is 60 minutes (80 minutes for PwD)
• Tier 1 has 4 sections (General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension) each having 25 questions.
• Each question holds a weight of 2 marks while negative marking of 0.5 marks is done for every incorrect answer

SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam Pattern

• Any candidate can appear for Tier II only after they qualify Tier I
• Tier II is also conducted in online mode with 500 questions. The duration of the exam is 120 minutes (160 minutes for PwD)
• Tier II has 4 sections namely Quantitative Abilities, English Language & Comprehension, Statistics and General Studies having 100, 200, 100 and 100 questions respectively.
• Each correct answer is awarded 2 marks while the incorrect answer is marked negatively. For every incorrect answer, -1/2 mark is deducted.

SSC CGL Tier 3 Exam Pattern

• SSC CGL Tier 3 is conducted in offline mode (pen and paper mode).
• It is a descriptive paper in English or Hindi.
• The exam involves the writing of essay or precis writing/ letter or application
• This exam holds a weight of 100 marks.
• The duration of the exam is 60 minutes (80 minutes for PwD)

SSC CGL Tier 4 Exam Pattern

• Tier 4 is either a Computer Proficiency Test (CPT), DEST or Document Verification.
• For Assistant Section Officer in CSS and MEA Post, Tier 4 is a computer proficiency test.
• For Tax Assistant Post, Tier 4 is a data entry skill test.

SSC CGL Syllabus 2020

SSC CGL Tier 3 Syllabus 2020

This exam is majorly for the candidates who are interested or have applied for the post of Statistical Investigator Grade-II and Compiler.

SSC CGL Tier 4 Syllabus 2020

Given below is the syllabus for Tier 4 exam in SSC CGL:

• DEST (Data Entry Speed Test): For the post of Tax Assistant (Central Excise and Income Tax), DEST Exam through SSC CGL 2019 exam is conducted to check the typing speed of the candidate. The candidates are given an article in English which they have to type on Computer. A candidate is required to type 2000 words in 15 minutes.
• CPT (Computer Proficiency Test): Word Processing, Spread Sheets and Generation of slides are the three modules that are important for this exam and the commission demands a candidate to be proficient in it for the post of CSS, MEA, Inspector (Central Excise), Inspector (Preventive Officer), Inspector (Examiner)

SSC CGL Selection Process 2020

The SSC CGL Selection Process involves 4 stages i.e. Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3 and finally Tier 4.

• Candidates who qualify in Tier 1, will be eligible to appear in Tier 2.
• Candidates who qualify in Tier 2, will be eligible to appear in both Tier 3 and Tier 4.

SSC releases the region-wise admit card on the official website 10-15 days before the exam. The admit card for different tiers will be released separately.
