IAS eligibility is based on various parameters which the candidates have to fulfill to apply for this exam. The parameters that the candidates have to fulfill are Nationality, Age, Qualification, number of attempts, and physical standards.

The candidate should be an Indian Citizen.

The Subject of Nepal
|
The Subject of Bhutan.
|
Tibetan refugee person who came to India before January 1, 1962, to settle for all time.

IAS 2020 Exam Pattern
- The IAS exam comprises of the Preliminary exam, Mains Exam, and Personal Interview round.
- The preliminary exam comprises of 2 papers of 200 marks each and the time allotted for each paper is 2 hours. The candidate has to qualify for this exam to give the mains exam. Question paper type is multiple choice question.
- The mains exam consists of 9 papers of 250 marks each and time allotted for each paper is 3 hours. This exam includes both Objective and subjective type questions.
- In both preliminary and mains examination there will be negative marking only in objective type paper that will be of 1/3rdmarks
